Me, Windwalker and Exavius at SeKi....
It's been 3 years since the three of us spent the day photographing. We had a great time. We hiked out to Huckleberry Meadow and back...felt like it was 20 miles for me though! Here's some of my photos. The forum is cropping my photos, so click on the photos to see the whole photo...

Great shots Mike! And wow looks like a heck of a time: a coyote, bear, and awesome sunset.

Wow Mike! All terrific images.
I kept trying to decide which is my favorite and couldn't decide; yet that cabin scene invokes something different than the others.
Funny thing, I've seen more bears in the parking lots and roads than in the back country.

I saw Mike's photos over on TT.
I'm with you Shawn, since Pooch passed away, the only bears I have seen were near the trailhead parking lot to Duck Pass, at Mammoth a couple years ago and the bear at home, trying to knock off my neighbors garbage can a year ago.

Piece of cake.

Funny you should say that Shawn, I have never seen a bear in the back-country
(cross-country) yet.
I have seen a lot of paw prints from bears, and mountain lions but thats it.
Seen plenty of them in the front country camp grounds or trailed sections of my hikes.

We saw two that day. The first one was a smaller black bear and not brown color....black. We didn't have enough time to take any photos as he darted off into the trees.
-Thanks for looking.

Plus, the most bear scat I see, is in my yard and my neighbors when the bears start raiding the apple trees in Oct and Nov. I got cleaned out this year, last year I was able to pick quite a few before the bears got them. Limbs keep getting broken, my trees are getting smaller. I need to rig up an electric or wire fence to keep them off all together. My neighbors have identified at least two bears that visit. Deer didn't do much damage this year.
Piece of cake.

Re: Me, Windwalker and Exavius at SeKi....
Some years back a friend and co-worker and I were hiking up Sphinx Creek when we stopped upon seeing a small bear resting at the base of a truck sized rock. When the bear saw us, it jumped up and over the rock rather than simply beat feet left or right to avoid us. It was quite a sight.
During the next work week I was asked quite a few times how the hike went. Each time I apparently told this bear story....and innocently enough the bear grew from its actual small size to something gigantic.
My friend, who sat nearby, finally got tired of hearing my exaggerations about the bear so he posted a sign nearby that simply said "Shawn is bigger than the bear!".
Just sayin'
