2025 Fire and Smoke Impact Reports

Please report here if you know of any fires or encounter smoky conditions during a recent trip to the Sierra.

The CAL FIRE map below displays general locations of major fires burning in the High Sierra Nevada and throughout the state of California. Fire locations are approximate.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

**Evacuation Centers have been established at the following locations**

Due to a brush fire, U.S. 395 is CLOSED from Lee Vining to State Route 167 in Mono County. There is no estimated time of reopening. U.S. Forest Service - Inyo National Forest An inciweb page has been launched for an official source of incident information: #INNFIRE UPDATE 5/23 at 5:45 am:

Last night at approximately 9:45 p.m. the acreage of the fire was updated to 538 from our Southern California intelligence center.

We were held in Lee Vining yesterday till 8 PM, when we were allowed to cross the fire corridor just north of Lee Vining on 395, with a PD escort.
We could have used 120 through Yosemite too, rather than the onerous detour through Hawthorne and Hwy 167. We heard that today 5/26, cars would also be allowed with an escort.

It seemed to us that all structures had been saved around Mono City, and the surrounding environs-- not sure, hope so.

It made for a cool sunset:
