My dermo told me certain drugs (eg statins) may make you more susceptible, and some food combinations. I recently started taking a statin daily and have not noticed a difference (yet).
I was covered otherwise.. Gotta get a new hat that covers the back of my neck and ears..
I bought the REI SAHARA hat. http://www.rei.com/product/810910/rei-sahara-hat-womens" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its a great hat.It has the widest brim of any hat ive tried at rei and A16.The brim is very flexible so you can bend it down over your neck and ears and it maintains that shape.Its really awesome.
Very comfy and lightweight.
It is a womans hat but so what-mens hats have narrower brims than women's.
My only complaint is that i had to slightly modify the drawstring clasp so that it worked effectively.
But i wouldnt let that get in the way.
I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

my marmot mtn precip already has the "hoodie" concept, and I use that for wind/rain protection. It's black, so not great in the sun when its hot out.
My fishing buddy, Paul, has a wide brimmed hat. When we get bursts of wind gusts, guess what I'm casting to retrieve? No, he doesn't have a hat strap or chin straps.
Yeah, but the Precip is heavier 15 oz, this things weighs 4.7 oz, and breathes a lot better
and is rated 30 SPF.

yeah.. but I'm not carrying both.. you can buy a "throw away" hoodie that comes with pants for 15 buxx at Big-5 which would work just as well. I used that last year in July. It was hot out, but I was comfortable in it. Kept the skeeters off as well. Still works, btw.. haven't ripped it yet.

It might get hot.. dunno, as I can't test it locally as REI doesn't carry it here. The REI in Santa Rosa really sucks (my opinion). They carry nothing that a real backpacker wants, and yes I've complained to both the store manager and corporate. They tend to cater to day-hikers and trendies.. (again my opinion)
I like my "lucky hat". Just need to add some neck/ear shade. I'm thinking there might be an easier way to do that with some fabric and velcro.
