lots of snow
I just got back from a 10 day backpacking trip (on skis). Quite a bit of snow with 6' drifts at 7,000'. Cold temps with 8-10" of new snow.

Thanks for a glimpse into the backcountry!
(A slight bit of snowfall here in RV last Monday and two hours of thunder and rain on Friday.)

6' foot drifts at 7000 ft, wow, that's a lot of snow, and there is a heavy snow warning up
for the high sierra tonight.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: lots of snow
I was actually encouraged on Saturday. I hiked up to about 10,600 on (or near) the PCT, south of Olancha, encountering only a few inches of snow. But then came Sunday morning when we had to hike out in a snow storm -- at 8,000 feet! There wasn't much accumulation at 8,000, but still kind of shocking.

The "worst" year I ever had was 1995 (I think). This year looks "worse".
