As nice as the pointer to the "How To Post Photos & Where To Store Them" is, that was for external hosting of pics, and not for the upload capability. Not that it's hard to figure out, but more to let people know if you resize your pic for ~350k, it's relatively easy to just upload, tag, and post it. Nice that it's hosted in such a way that you can only view it if you log in.

Watermarks?...If you feel threatened, (understand keeping control), then by all means.
FYI, if requested, I will gladly delete any photo from HST after contest is over.

if you downsize the photo, even with a watermark, to what size you choose, it's not so easily copyable, then, is it? Not like you're gonna print a 16x48 from a 350k size.

Not threatened, I just use them just because and upload them for future posting. I have a special folder just for that. I can (and will) remove them for this. It's all good.markskor wrote:Watermarks?...If you feel threatened, (understand keeping control), then by all means.

Some "contests" require anonymity (no watermarks), that's all. I NEVER post a full-size image. I usually size them to 720px at the long end.rlown wrote:if you downsize the photo, even with a watermark, to what size you choose, it's not so easily copyable, then, is it? I never add water marks to my photos. I don't care if people use my images. I take photos for the enjoyment of others not for financial gain. Two days ago I had a person from Backpacker Magazine ask to use one of my photos and that they would pay. I just told them to use it.
All my photos can be downloaded in their original size from my FlickR account.

The "contests" here never required anonymity (site doesn't support that anyway). One puts forth their best work and let it fly. If you don't wanna post it or post it with a watermark, who cares. Do it in the way you feel comfortable.
It's nice to see the perspective of others caught up in the sierra "moment".
