I just googled "stimulus money" and sequoia. I got a news story from the Visalia Times Delta. This is an excerpt from the article:
"Repair of the Middle Fork Trail in Tehipite Valley of Kings Canyon National Park. Cost: $75,000. Result: Re-establish trail wiped out by rock slides and downed trees from the 11,500-acre Tehipite Fire in the summer of 2008.
Repair of the Kennedy Pass Trail in Kings Canyon National Park. Cost: $83,000. Result: Fix a 15-to-20-foot-deep gully that bisects the trail eight times between the pass and the Kings River."
Anyone know if any other trails will be repaired? George, do you know? It sure would be nice if the trail from Crown Valley to Tehipite was repaired. I've always wanted to hike it, but I've been afraid of falling like Amy Racina. If the trail was fixed, I would feel more confident going there.

Re: Stimulus Money for Sequoia Trails
I too would be interested in knowing whether the Tehipite Trail is still
considered closed or not?
If it is considered close then what kind of time frame are we looking at for the
re-opening of the trail?
Is this dependent on the NPS only, or is SNF also involved in the damage evaluations
and rehabilitation of the trail? Thanks

Re: Stimulus Money for Sequoia Trails
I don't know, but I'll try to find out in the next few days. Trails would have had a bunch of projects in the pipeline ready to go if money appeared. Hard to find crews this late so it'll be interesting if they're able to start a totally new project on short notice. Another project that's funded is repairing the Hell For Sure trail starting at Evolution Creek junction all the way to the pass.
The crews actually do a fair amount of work in Tehipite because it's sometimes all they can reach in spring. The brush grows back pretty quick down there though, so it goes to heck after only a couple of seasons.
Anyway, if I hear anything, I'll post it.

Thanks rscofield for the links. I hope there are more projects for SEKI than the ones listed.
