Proposed Prescribed Fire Project

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Looks like a multi-year project. A decade or more possibly. Hopefully ongoing. When the last unit is burned it will be time to do the first one again. Fuels treatments are not a do-once-and-done thing. As the vegetation regrows the area needs re-treatment. Wait too long and it is like the area was never treated at all.

Burns usually require a specific combination of weather parameters that may or may not occur every year. Mechanical and hand treatments can be done in any weather year around.
