[partner wanted] Tuolumne high sierra camp loop Aug 18 - 26

A forum to initiate member meet-up. Looking for a hiking/climbing/fishing/skiing/etc. partner, or are you planning a trip where you wouldn't mind having some company? Last minute invites can be just as fun as a well-planned group trip (sometimes even better) so don't be shy! And be sure to post a trip report to the appropriate forum when you get back.

[partner wanted] Tuolumne high sierra camp loop Aug 18 - 26

Post by tiesing »

I know it's short notice but my partner contracted Covid so there's two spaces on my wilderness permit. It's a good year to do this loop because the camps are closed so the trails won't be littered with horse manure.

Here's my planned itinerary:

Date Destination Miles
08/18/23 Echo Lake 4.4
08/19/23 Merced Lake 8.9
08/20/23 Vogelsang 7.4
08/21/23 Lyell Cyn (possible Iceberg Lake side trip) 7.1
08/22/23 Glen Aulin 11.1
08/23/23 May Lk 8.5
08/24/23 Middle Sunrise Lake 6.1
08/25/23 Upper Cathedral Lk 6
08/26/23 exit 3.5

I'm an older backpacker with plenty of experience including the Sierra High Route. I'm not super fast any longer but I can keep up a moderate pace. Also, I don't feel compelled to have to hike together.

I'll be reachable by PM until Tuesday (Aug 15) mid-afternoon.

I'm doing the loop counter-clockwise August 20-23! Good luck out there.
