Sonora Pass (SR 108) and Ebbetts Now Open

Post by maverick »

Mono Co Sheriff's Dept:
ATTN DRIVERS: Sonora Pass (State Route 108) is now open.
A special thank you to Mono County Supervisor John Peters for opening the gate today and a BIG thank you to the crews of Caltrans District 9 Sonora Junction and Caltrans, District 10 Long Barn for their tireless work this year.
In total, Sonora Pass was closed this season for 211 days. That’s the longest closure since 2004/2005, when it was closed for 220 days. The last time the pass was closed this far into the year was in 2017, when it was closed until June 13.
While the highway is open, vehicles traveling over Sonora Pass may encounter water on the highway from the seasonal runoff. Drivers should reduce their speed to travel safely through these areas.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Opening up!

Sonora and Ebbetts Passes are now open--although the raods are narrow channels through tall walls of snow.  Still, we're getting closer!

Only Tioga Pass, at 10,000 feet in Yosemite, is still closed.
