One tent or two?

I like the idea of two tents, but since we'll be above treeline most of the time, finding space for two tents is pretty challenging, especially in the crowded Minaret area.  So, we've opted for a 3-person tent to give us some elbow room for the inclimate nights. On friendly nights I'll cowboy camp in the bivy and let my son have the tent to himself. He carries the tent, I'll carry the stove, fuel and pot. We'll never split up, so if there's a health issue we'll stay together (obviously!)
