Lake Vernon (Yosemite) 5/13

Post by RoguePhotonic »

With very little places to access across the range I took a hike to Lake Vernon out of Hetch Hetchy. Snow level starts at about 6300 feet. General snow pack depth throughout the area my guess was between 2-8 feet deep depending on location.

Thanks! Your photos show the conditions very well. Looks like it is not too bad as long as one is willing to walk on snow.

Yeah my life got so busy for the last 5 years I kind of lost all track of my own personal time to do anything. Trying to rediscover some sort of balance again so hopefully I'll be posting more.

Over all the conditions were not bad. Very few locations of bothersome post holing however I can tell that is going to change soon. I think before long traveling this same trip will be truly awful.

Thanks Rogue! Looking forward to some more of your posts. Balance is good!

I may try to squeeze in a similar Hetch Hetchy trip soon myself -- may wait for a little cold spell.

If you could buff out those sun cups for me, that'd be appreciated. Thx.

Hopefully this amount of snow will keep Falls Creek flowing year round for the next several years.

Enjoyed the photo tour. Welcome back. Your Beehive Meadow shot shows a flooded grass pond with snow bank dams. Latest Sentinel Hub may 16 image shows that band of open water along Vernon's west shore. Laural and Kibbie are still snow covered.
