High Sierra Camps Closed in 2023

Post by dbargaehr1 »

I'm sure most of you have seen this, but it was news to me - HSCs are completely closed for 2023. Not surprising at all.

This makes my Vogelsang area much more appealing in late July, although I'm still concerned about snow that high.

Yeah, camping up at Vogelsong in 2020 was pretty nice. I believe it was only me and a group of 4 other people at opposite ends of the backpackers campsite, and it was a beautiful area.

We noticed less packers on the JMT trail in the heavy 2011 snow year compared to 2008 and 2014.
