acmemapper

Post by balzaccom »

Looks like my favorite online mapping tool is down--and has been down for a few days.

acmemapper.com

Anyone else manage to load the site?

I just fired up 2.2 and had no problems with it. Looks like I used a different address than you did, though.

The National Forest Visitor Map app is also not working. Freezes my phone every time I try to use it. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same freezing. From the comments on the Playstore site other people are having the same problem.

I typed in balzaccom’s suggested address (acmemapper.com) in Safari; it opens up a spammy-looking website with chinese characters, trying to open popups. I’d suggest you all NOT try to duplicate my experience.

The most up-to-date version of mapper.acme 2.2 version has a https address and seems to work.
However, doing a web search also yields acme mapper version 2.2 and 3.0 that are http (not https) domains and therefore should be treated with caution. Oh, and opening the 3.0 version site (apparently a Beta test version) yields a notation in the “green box” on the page that says “What are you doing here? Go away!”

If you are pointing your friends to this tool, I’d be careful to give them the full link so they don’t stumble on any of the abandoned/spammy versions that are out there.

Maybe clear out cookies and the cache? Does it give an error and is your desktop an Apple or Win? Updates all installed?
Just random ideas..
