Gosh, thank you so much for the suggestions.

At best, I'll have a CRV so I'll be skipping out on Leavitt Lake. It's "AWD" in heavy quotation marks. :)

It is very strange to be able to wing it, but pretty refreshing! I think my loose plan for the time being will be to put together some combination of Kennedy Meadows and the PCT to enter/exit, and make use of Emigrant Pass, Bond Passes or Big Sam to create a loop that includes the lady lakes with Dorothy, and Snow, Huckleberry, Buck, and Emigrant Lakes.

Recreation.gov has 50 permits per day available for Leavitt Meadows, and only a few takers so far. I'll keep that option in my back pocket as well.
