Note that Point Reyes now releases backcountry campground permits on recreation.gov in three waves. The majority can be obtained exactly 3 months in advance. Some sites are kept back and released 14 days in advance. Finally, a single site at each campground is kept back and released on recreation.gov on the actual day of entry, for locals who can grab it in the morning and then rush over to the Seashore.
