Join my Zoom campfire

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Join my Zoom campfire

Post by balzaccom »

I'll be making a presentation for my local library on Zoom....

Join us tonight at 7pm for this month's Virtual Remarkable Journeys! The Sierra Nevada is one of the most beautiful and accessible mountain ranges in the world. In addition to being out in nature, life on the trail is good exercise for the mind and is refreshing for the soul. Paul Wagner provides tips about backpacking in California--what, where, when, how, and why.

Nice job balzacom. We appreciated your presentation, it was very well done, of course. However, we wish you would have told some scary tall tales about all of the risks in the mountains-- just to thin the crowd a bit. After all, there might be a lot of ax-murderers in the Sierra, and rabid Bigfoots-- we just don't get the reports because they kill, bury, or eat all of their victims! You could have said something like that Paul.

That was a very fat rattler you found. We've only seen small ones, but we caught one in the middle of a lizard dinner. Pretty basic meal- saliva for sauce, your chef wife would not have been impressed.

Gone.

p.s. Speaking of fine cuisine, why won't you drink coffee Paul? I thought of you as the consummate Epicurean-- WTH? Gazing around on a coffee high is one of the great pleasures in the mountains.

Ha! Thanks, Harlen. I don't drink anything that has caffeine in it. You don't want to see me when I am fully awake like that. Nothing against the flavor, though.
