HEAT WAVE

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Only 103 in Torrance. Pretty easy to stay comfortable with a tower fan. Unless, of course, the electricity is turned off.
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.

So sorry to see this Russ, hopefully CR wasn't in too much pain.
Looks like a heart attack. Just fell over onto the fence. Not tangled up. No cuts.. Upper 20's is a good run for a horse anyway.
Vinny died when he was 33, so a really good run.

Hit 95 at my house yesterday. About as warm as it gets. Rarely will hit 100, maybe 1 or 2 days every few years. But then again this at 5100 feet.
I have a small shaded alcove in my yard under three trees. Surrounded by lawn and catches an afternoon breeze. It stays 20 degrees cooler than the surrounding air. I went outside and read for a couple hours yesterday. Quite pleasant. The birds were active at the feeder and fountain. The songs filled the air.

115 here Sat and Sun. I had to go outside and cover up my pepper plants because the sun was literally cooking the fruit. It reminded me of the time a guy from Lowes came out to measure the house for carpeting. He said something like "global warming is no big deal...we've got a fix for it. It's called air conditioning!" I didn't say anything for obvious reasons, but I was thinking "you stupid effing moron...you gonna air condition farms and ranches too, so we can still grow food?'

No doubt he led a good life with your care. RIP Vinny.
