GREAT pictures, high gas prices (Bridgeport was always the highest), my home for 4 seasons. Good job.

Re: Hoover TR - Green Lake
Weird...I did the almost the exact same trip as I did 2 weeks ago, although I just camped in the lower Green Creek. Doo do doo doo Do do doo doo (Twilight Zone sounds) I did also visit your "local lake," and it is nice to see the snow has melted quite a bit since then.
In your opinion, would West Lake be free of snow in a week or two?

Thanks for the report! Great pictures and nice job on that brown; glad to see some open water after imagining all of my favorite targets still covered in ice through July.

Re: Hoover TR - Green Lake
Nice report and photos. The Green Creek drainage is really underrated in my estimation. It is a great scenic place that can be enjoyed without a huge amount of hiking. There are some decent sized fish to be had in that drainage, too, but the fish won't run as big as the place you hit at the end of the trip.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the inspirational report and great pictures. We have visited the area many times since our honeymoon in 1992. We were thinking about a fall trip in Sept. I recognize the view.

There's a great loop to or from Green Lakes to Virginia Lakes (well it's not exactly a loop - you'd have to have a car at each end or hitch hike). I'd start at Virginia Lakes. The trail from Virginia Lakes up to or down from the Virginia/Green divide is full of incredible flowers... especially lilies.

Heh...glad to hear you didn't get fleeced there.DriveFly44 wrote:TT, Haha, it was actually just my attempt to be somewhat humorous about the ridiculous price of gas over there. I actually just washed my windshield and that only cost me $3

I read somewhere that both gas stations in Bridgeport are owned by the same guy (sadly, it isn't Jeff Bailey), and added to the fact that there's nothing else within 20 miles or so, that's why they can get away with charging those prices (IIRC, at least $0.50/gallon more than Lee Vining).
By the way, what were the dates of your trip? Thinking about that area for next weekend...

Yea, pretty much a Monopoly then.
I was there the 23rd & 24th and the snow appeared to be melting pretty quickly. I'm going to be around the area again this week and will explore East if possible and report back.
