Rather depressing
Not sure what section to post this in so move it if need be. Came down 395 this morning from Bishop. Hardly any snow up there on the mtns. Probably no real surprise. Fire season is going to be a real son of a ****.

Better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it!

Yeah, we need to pray, rain-dance, cast spells, or whatever else you might do to get some precipitation.

Mostly from the San Joaquin River Watershed upward to the north. 7,500ft base elevation for snow predicted. It's a warm one, with little moisture for the driest parts of the state.robow8 wrote:Looks like a big, wet storm is moving in for the weekend!

Re: Rather depressing
Very interesting to see the different years at Mineral King. Even though this will be a warm storm, we have had so little precipitation I am happy to see it in any form, snow, rain, meteorites, etc.
If anyone is curious, I read this snowpack report the other day that says we are at 12% of normal at Echo Summit in Tahoe area. Average throughout the state is 25% of normal. http://www.water.ca.gov/news/newsreleas ... owpack.pdf

Re: Rather depressing
If you are looking for some optimism, the storm will be dumping most of it's moisture at night so that will help counter the low snow levels, and if you believe in fantasy charts, February and March are above average for precipitation. This season those charts have always started out wet, and became drier with each run.

Re: Rather depressing
Bummer to see so little snow for sure. Temps are supposed to be in the low 70s once the storm passes. Not good for keeping snow around [emoji20] February and March are still ahead so hopefully it changes.
