Here are some current photos of the area around thousand island lakes! still a lot of snow but the temps were pretty high during the day. no mosquitos yet! island pass was pretty much covered in snow and post hole city in the afternoon. We took the high trail back to agnew meadows and it is snow free and very beautiful! i had never hiked it before and will now be the preferred way into this area!
cheers,
Summits

Love the photo with the tent. Could easily be a photo in a sales ad.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Good to see that much snow up at 10k+ still.
Will be making our first backpack in 5 weeks up nearby Convict Creek and seeing that snow would not want to be going any earlier. Not only does the snow have to melt but the green things beneath need a couple three weeks to rise up getting rid of the dead brown stuff from last year below snow.

SS,
I'm with you on the high trail; in a few weeks, it will start to bloom (fantastic flowers), but the bugs will be there, too. Regardless, the views are sensational, and it's such a gentle grade that that last section before Thousand Island Lake always seems harder than it is.
Is that a halfdome or quarterdome tent? We recently went from the half to the quarter, and they have both been good "bang-for-the-buck" shelters.
