Venus? That would dehydrate well. and require very little external energy.ERIC wrote:At least on my planet it's not. Especially when I'm dehydrating other items anyway. Not much extra work to just throw in some sauce.

Re: Dehydrated Sriracha Powder
Who was your college roomie? Judy worked at Clorox R&D as a microbiologist from something like 1992 (or was it 1993) until 2004 or so. She did bring home some of those dressing samples, but since neither of us liked their dressings that much, that only happened early on. The KC Masterpiece stuff was a bit more useful. I used that for my "marinating" BBQ sauce to set up my own homemade ("Oakland-style") BBQ sauce that I slop on after grilling. Kingsford is still my go-to charcoal, so the Kingsford samples were extremely useful for us.rlown wrote:my College roommate used to work as a Plant manager/R&D guy for Clorox. Did you know they make Hidden Valley Ranch dressings and KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce and some Kingsford products? When he was located in Pleasanton , we shared an appt in Fremont in the late 80's after we got jobs. He would bring home lots of charcoal, bbq sauce and that hideous ranch dressing. I liked the briquettes the most, as I'm a old-school bbq guy.
Personally, i do think Ranch tastes like it might have a tad touch of bleach in it.

GB.. PM sent.
Eric, to back up your claim about ranch (the intro on this recipe was funny. if you make it yourself and you like it to each their own)
here's an interesting recipe: http://www.chow.com/recipes/28753-basic-ranch-dressing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
not to switch context too much, but do you dehydrate ranch and take it with you into the mountains?
Russ.. evidently a weirdo.

Re: Dehydrated Sriracha Powder
Too late. And no, I don't take ranch with me. In fact, all I ever really use it for is as a dipping sauce for raw snack veggies.rlown wrote:not to switch context too much, but do you dehydrate ranch and take it with you into the mountains
Mention of ranch was barely noticeable and as an afterthought "TT Tip" in the OP recipe. I'm blown away that such a minor reference to something as harmless as ranch dressing would prompt a thread hijacking.

Re: Dehydrated Sriracha Powder
I have to share in Russ' disdain for ranch dressing. I had so much of it AND Cup O' Noodle (not at the same time) in college, that the smell of either one, even to this day, makes me feel nauseous. Yeah, it's been over 20 years, but that buttermilk and herb stench...yich! If others are cool with it, great, but keep it away from me, thank you.

Re: Dehydrated Sriracha Powder
Perhaps you guys should start your own thread about your disdain for ranch dressing, or hey, maybe form a hate group with your own Facebook page where like minds can b**** about it all they want.

Re: Dehydrated Sriracha Powder
some background on the sauce of which you speak: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huy_Fong_Foods" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and choices other than from the green tipped bottle:
http://importfood.com/sriracha_sauce.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I wonder if they dehydrate the chilis before they make sriracha?
