Would love to do University Peak, too. As you can see, I'm not very particular. As long as the company is good, there's rock to climb, and beautiful lakes to stare at, I'll go.

I'm going to put in a vote for Matlock Lake, out of Onion Valley. I've never been there, but from the pics and descriptions I've read, it looks like a beautiful area. There are a number of advantages to the Cottonwood area.
1. Easier drive in and out.
2. More central to both north and south travelers.
3. Easier hike in.
4. Probably more sheltered from the weather than Cottonwood lakes.
5. Various on and off trail opps within fairly good range.
I think this is my choice!
