Sprained/Broken Toe
A couple weeks ago, on my birthday no less, I sprained my toe as I stumbled barefoot while holding my baby. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but it is still a nuisance and it has completely ceased my ability to be physically active. I'm hopeful I'll be able to hike again in a couple weeks, but I'm curious if other people have dealt with this before.
From what I've read online, there is little I can do other than ice it, elevate it, rest it, and take anti-inflammatory medicine. I can't believe how long it is taking to heal.

Re: Sprained/Broken Toe
Maybe. I don't think the doctor could do anything for me really even if they did find a fracture. It's not that bad, just very slow to heal.

Re: Sprained/Broken Toe
I've broken toes on several occasions. Other than what you mentioned, you could tape it to a neighboring toe, but it won't do much except help keep it from moving if you jam it again. If it looks to be in place and not protruding in a weird direction, there's nothing the dx would do.
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.

Re: Sprained/Broken Toe
do you really want to read "online" remedies, or listen to me or Jimr about what to do?
Doctor, if you have one. Xray, they have that. plan, they give you one. before you tape your toes.

In this case, yes I do. There is nothing a doctor can do for me unless it is displaced and requires surgery.rlown wrote:do you really want to read "online" remedies, or listen to me or Jimr about what to do?

The difference between a sprain and break has no impact on what I should be doing to recover, just the timeframe.

How long did it take before you were able to hike again without remembering you toe was ever broken?Jimr wrote:I've broken toes on several occasions.
