Interesting shot lostcoyote. I guess that moss has always been part of the ecosystem, because Davis lakes is off the beaten track and looks pristine, plus the water flowing from the lake was really cold.

same with this lake.... but the water does flow over dark colored rock and in a flatter section of the stream, maybe there is enough heat collected by the dark rock to warm the water to really make it thrive.
