With school starting next week I had time for one last trip of summer vacation. This trip was on the trails above Lake Sabrina. Hiked to Blue Lake in the dark and rain on Wednesday evening. Moved up on Thursday and spent two nights at Sailor Lake. Explored around the valley surrounding Sailor Lake in the afternoon. This area reminds me of a miniature version of Miter Basin with the granite slabs and falls. Hiked along the creek and up the falls to Echo Lake on Friday. Went right up the narrow canyon beside the falls below Echo Lake. I don't think this would be possible in a normal snow year. The color in Moonlight, Hungry Packer, and Echo Lakes was fantastic. With no moon we had lots of meteors from the Perseid Meteor Shower. Thunderstorms each afternoon. No bugs, except a few gnats. Temps were pleasant both day and night with little to no wind. Tons of people (backpackers and day hikers) on the trail to Blue Lake as we hiked out Saturday.
Here is the link to the pics from this trip.

By the way, I did the same trip last year at about the same time. If you want to see the difference between a big snow year and a no snow year you can see those pics here.

Beautiful photos of such a classic area. Did you happen to wet a line in any of those lakes?
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the TR, cool pictures, and for including the link to previous album too.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Thanks for the report and pictures. That area was on my list for this season but I don't think I'm going to make it.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Echo Lake looks like true wilderness.
