I would like to try out half moon this summer.
Does anyone have a map to post that will show
the best trail from Susie lake,is there a visable
"use " trail that is easy to locate? I would like to avoid
trail n error .
Any guess when the ground will be clear this year?
Thanks

Been a long time, there is a trail. Somewhere. Even I could see it.
Piece of cake.

I've backpacked cross-country from Alta Morris to Susie with my dog. It was surprisingly easy. From the east side of Susie where the PCT heads toward Gilmore Lake, just follow fishing trails northwest along Susie's shore and cross the stream coming in from Half Moon Lake. From there just make your way upslope about 3/4 mile and 400 foot to Alta Morris. It's mostly open and brush free. The only steep area is along side the stream which is easy to avoid. This was in September, so snow was not an issue.

I guess my initial post of the map was misinterpreted as spam by one of the moderators so it was deleted.
So this time around, just to be clear, this is not spam. I'm simply trying to help out the OP with a map of the area so he can have an enjoyable route confident trip.

I'm still rather convinced that you can achieve more than you've ever dreamed of if you just lower your standards.
