Thanks for the report and pictures, I also note that it's interesting to see this area with some fall snow after having been through here in July.

Very nice pictures!! Pic #3 in your orginal post: That mountain (whatever it is) should be renamed to "Big Rock Candy Mountain".. It just looks tasty..

Awesome pics. My trip up that way was one of my favorites ever. I'd hike those damn switchbacks any time to get back there again. Next time........
Is this Granite-Bear??

Re: Mid October trip to granite park
Thanks much. Very good pic(s) of it. I hope to go up over that next year.
Edit: Thanks Mokelumnekid for PMing me with some more detail on that pass. I may just avoid that unless I have the right gear. Steep snow is not where I want to be with a heavy pack on.

Re: Mid October trip to granite park
I'm glad Y'all like the photos...
for those who have not hiked up to this area.....I will say that this area is much more rocky
than the areas to the south such as Paiute pass, & Bishop pass & I would even include Lamark
Col even though It has It's share of rocks/boulders. This makes for an interesting hike since
the trail can be hard to distinguish at times.....& sometimes just disappears.
I was day hiking with maybe 5 pounds at most...for those with full packs, It would be a challenge
for sure hopping over granite bear pass, & obviously late Sept. would be about the ideal time
to do it. I have never tried the pass to the south which I think is Royce pass, But others say
it is easier with less snow.
I loaded some more photos today.........

Re: Mid October trip to granite park
I have noticed that all of the full sized photos that I posted are being chopped off
on the right side. at least 2" or 3" are missing.....really diminishes the effect.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?
an example..........look at the pic with the frying pan & Trout. lame.
