HST & Hamilton Lake info sought
Can anyone tell me what the "toilet" situation is at Hamilton Lake [above Bear Paw]? I haven't been there since 1993 and at that time it was just "go behind a bush". I doubt it's that way today.
I'm doing the HST, Crescent Meadows to Whitney Portal, starting Aug. 18th and will be stopping at Hamilton for a day for acclimatization. I've got a trail pass for 2 hikers but my partner can't make it so if anyone wants to avail themselves of the "second person" on this pass they're welcome.
This will be my 4th time over this route, beginning in 1975. Web page with photos, etc, at gonzowrite.com

Re: HST & Hamilton Lake info sought
Mav,
I was doing the trip with a group, who had a pretty set agenda -- straight HST. But we had 7 whole days, so I did get some fun side trips in. Tamarack Lake, Mt. Stewart, Mt. Muir and, best of all, Wales Lake, which to my surprise is rather magnificent.
As a note to the NPS (or whoever names these trails): Anything below 8000 feet is not the High Sierra. I would have been happy to have taken a helicopter past those parts of the trail!

Unfortunately, my almost-brand new camera somehow disappeared right before the trip! I was sure I packed it, but there's no trace anywhere. I've always been good at losing things, but usually I at least have some idea of how I did it.
