There used to be a lonely confused Pronghorn that hung out in Olancha with the cows northeast of the 395/190 junction.

Pronghorns

Post by Steve & Kitty »

This is my first attempt at posting/replying, so I hope it goes through ok.
There are herds of pronghorn antelope in N.E. California, and are beautiful to look at. My wife and I were driving along Ca Hwy 44 near Hog Flat, and noticed a doe and fawn (if that's what theycall female and baby antelope!) about 100 ft from the highway. I stopped along the shoulder of the highway to observe them. The mother had the baby lay down in a thicket, then she proceeded on. Really neat to watch and observe.
Also, here in N.E. Ca, there are herds of wild horses, which are fun to watch and observe. One really respects these beautiful animals in the winter, when temps are around zero, and they're having to endure these extreme conditions. You realize how wonderful and fragile life is when you see wildlife in it's natural habitat.

Saw 40 of them in the Carrizo Plain last week. Beautiful animals.
