Tioga Road plowing started?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Yose's NPS site is pretty good about updating plowing status. I look here: http://tenaya.ucsd.edu/tioga/tioga/tioga_currenta.jpg. If i see the big CAT's parked just beyond the shed, i know they're well on their way to the plowing.

This is the best info you can shake a stick at.....Caltrans is between TPR and the Park Gate. The weather should be great this week, so I suspect they will make it to at least Tioga Lake for the opener of fishing. I think the plan is to open the gate to Tioga Lake for the opener of fishing, but if it snows this weekend....forget about it!

The snow still looks like around 3' at the entrance per the webcam.
Piece of cake.

those poles beyond the shed are 8'. and cdec reports the snow as 85" (not sure where that is in location to the shed) It's always fun to watch (when the webcam works) when the snow machines come in.

This cam updates on the half hour (if it works).. the camera is owned by UCSD, but the phone line is NPS. She updates on the half hour for the last 90 mins, if it works. To be more exact, every half hour, you might get an update.

well. when we see the flag go up on the pole, we'll know they're open to at least taking our entrance fees. Should have been an HST flag on that puppy all winter.
