Love the winter shots, Lake Mary looks sooo cold, I remember flipping a small boat on that lake, throwing my wife Linda and myself into the water, we spent the next two hours in a hot shower shivering , kind of a bonding experience

got a little behind . . .
2 wks ago, same hikes, different conditions. I don't have much of a choice of where to hike, just where the shuttles can drop me off.

Rehab Wk 4, day 1: Tamarack Lodge - Horseshoe Lake - Lake Mary Loop (again!)
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/73 ... 7615_djL2p
This weekend I hitched a ride to Mammoth with Mo and Rick. They dropped me off at the condo Fri night. I don't have much of a choice on places to hike since I can't drive yet. So I'm stuck with wherever the shuttle can drop me off. This area is scenic and has more groomed walking than any other area that I can get to. So doing this hike again. Weather was great! Blue skies and a beautiful day!
No sling! The sling with abduction pillow is behind my back. I wasn't sure if my arm could handle the movement. It was fine.

Rehab wk 4, day 2: Minaret Summit (again)
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/73 ... 0303_ca8EC
It was snowing out, so I didn't rush in the morning. I hiked Minaret Summit again in a light storm, and got back in time for my ride home.
What a difference a day makes! No visibililty!
and last weekend, found two more places to walk . . . .

Ya can't keep a good girl down!
Good progress. My wife still won't let me drive her truck.

That's amazing Snownymph. You cover more ground with an injury than I do all year healthy!
I have had occasion to wonder, while sitting atop various Sierra Peaks Peak during summer, if SnowNymph was had climbed all those peaks around me.. I am beginning to believe you have!
I hope you are compiling all these experiences into a book or something because I would buy it! Go Gettem SnowNymph!
Cheers, Hetchy

Re: Still getting out, short walks while rehabbing
Flip, I'm working soooo hard to get that arm up. Today my PT said my arm was 130 deg at the start, and 145 deg by the time I left. I have rides for the next two weekends, so working hard to get it up by the time I see my doctor on the 18th. I just need that ok to drive so I can move on to peaks. I feel what your wife is talking about. Hoping to get past that in the next few weeks.
Hetchy, its fun to climb a peak, look around and say "I did that one". In my pix, I usually name the peaks in the distance that I've been on. One desert hiker posted that he left something for me on a peak. That got me to do it. It was a message that he finally beat me to a peak! It was a fun peak, and cool to get the message.
So here's last weekends hikes. Added Panorama Dome to the Tamarack hike, and the next day climbed my first peak in 6 weeks!
Saturday, 28 Feb 2009 (day 1)
Rehab wk 6: Added Tamarack Snowshoe trail to my Tamarack-Lake Mary-Mamie walk
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/74 ... 2808_wRvdg
For variety I hiked up Panorama Dome . . . . great views!
Then continued on the Tamarack walkers trail around Lake Mary, Lake Mamie, then back to Tamarack Lodge.
Sunday, 1 Mar 2009 (day 2)
Rehab wk 6: The Knoll, my first peak in 6 wks! Decided to get a little elevation gain this time.
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/74 ... 8053_wsTRd
My first peak in 6 wks!
Not a big one, but still high above the Village
I started from the buildings above the Westin, the tall buildings at the village. Interesting postholing on the way down.

Wow, I didn't realize you had surgery either... good to see you gettin' out! I have a long list of high-def video documentaries I'd like to make, and I think you're life of prolific hiking and climbing the Sierra and the deserts would make a fascinating flick. If you're interested, we'll talk sometime.

I'll add my best wishes for a speedy, 100% recovery. Just don't push the envelope too much lest you accidently push the "undo" recovery button. I think of you and Del (pctpacker) and Steve (Peacock) often. I'll never forget watching you chase after that very mellow bear at Bearpaw Meadow in 2001. Take care and maybe you'll stumble over me laying in the middle of some far off trail this summer.

The Energy of Snow Nymph Artistic capacity of Buck Forester
I am telling you, there is a book/video documentary here!
As pretty as anything the National Geographic has produced.
I know; I have seen Bucks' work.. He far exceeds my capacity for photography.
SnowNymph far exceeds my capacity for travel.
The two; in combination, WILL make a "Perfect" storm.
Buck, you are an inspiration to the aspiring photographers the likes of me. I thought I had a good eye for photography.. that was, until I saw your stuff.
Snowy, You could out hike the Apache Elders themselves.. your energy and dedication is inspiring to the thru hikers, section hikers, and day hikers in all of us.. mere mortals.(Don't Blush now!)
I think there is a "confluence" of Artistry and Determination, HERE, that would make for a "Dam Good Video Documentary or Book". (Sorry Buck, I have no TV, so I had to mention the "Book" thang! HA!)
I already think the both of you," walk on water".
So I expect no less!
"No Pressure, Huh?!" Hetchy
