Won’t the San Joaquin river bridge out mess up this route ? I have permits for late September and thought that was the case after not being able to do a West entrance trip but I must have location wrong.

Thanks for all the helpful advice! Sounds like I can't go too wrong with either direction. If I get a Lamarck permit, I'll probably break up the trip to Darwin Bench in two days. Either way, I'm planning on doing a couple layover days in Evolution Basin (and Dusy) and hope to go over McGee pass to check out the lakes then loop back up through Evolution Valley.

The San Joaquin bridge failure makes the usual North Lake to South Lake impossible without a reroute, but Lamarck to South Lake is unaffected.
