North Lake to Humphreys Basin

Post by Harlen »

There are a couple short trail deviations on the way up to Piute Pass due to small sections of leftover snow banks. They are well made by the pack station staff, and hopefully, the Forest Service too. Other than that, it's easy walking all the way to the pass. On the west side of Piute Pass there are just 2 bits of leftover snowfield-- one just 35' long, and the other perhaps 90 feet. Both are boot-tracked and easy.

As for creek crossings, there are two lower down on the trail in from North Lake, and both have log crossings. They are pretty easy, but on our way out in the rain, Lizzie and I just walked through the creek for fun, and not to chance a slip.

Up in H. Basin, you can go wherever you please without snow or water worries. There are creeks to cross, and snowfields around, but always ways to navigate around them.

It is still very green and full of flowers!
