Kennedy Meadow to Relief Reservoir/Emigrant Wilderness

Post by bobby49 »

I'm seeking information about the trail conditions. Also, I am curious. Highway 108 is currently open from the west to Kennedy Meadow. Is there any prediction about when 108 will open over Sonora Pass?

I just checked and Gianelli Meadow(8400ft) and snow sensor had 113 inches of snow but its a lot higher than Relief Reservoir(7250ft) and I checked the web cams at Dodge Ridge Ski Area which is close and it looks like too much snow for me, but thats because I fish. Kennedy Meadows Pack Station(209)965-3900 would give you a better condition report for the trail and Sonora Pass Road(Call them for a update). I saw on the Caltrans website they are close to opening Sonora Pass but need to clear up a few things before they open the road. Bridgeport website says early Jun to mid June for opening.

Thanks for sharing the videos, there's the proof. There is A LOT OF SNOW STILL(RECORD AMOUNTS), AND THAT IS WHY ITS TAKING CALTRANS longer to clear the roads.

I'm going to guess June 9th, but it wouldn't surprise if it stretched to the 16th.

I’ve been following Caltrans District 10 on FB all spring. Course, whenever they’ve opened roads, I either haven’t been available to ski or the weather has been crummy. So it has done me no good.
