Thanks for the recommendation!

Don't even think about the Morgan Mine trail.
Thanks, scottmiller!

Lundy Canyon, just North of Lee Vining, and also the Virginia Lakes, a little further, would both be good choices for day hikes with kids.

That's a good choice Lundy Lake or Lundy Canyon. Not as many people for sure. This year the Lake will be full. I forgot about that, nice suggestion!

Thanks for the recommendation of Lundy. If going up the Lundy Canyon trail (up Mill Creek toward 20 Lakes Basin) is going out just a mile or two and turning around well before the lakes (i.e. before the steepness increases a lot) a pleasant hike?

How is the Lakes Canyon trail (along the South Fork of Mill Creek) if only going a mile or two in before turning around?

Lundy seems like it might be a good alternative to the Lee Vining area in July, depending on how the snow melt goes.

I read some webpages about Lundy Canyon and see that the Lundy Canyon Trail indeed has some great scenic vistas and waterfall views within the first mile or two, before the steep part! This looks like a great recommendation—thanks!
