My real job

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

My real job

I'm retired, but they still drag me out from time to time. This article, in Europe's leading beverage magazine, was based on a presentation I made in Amsterdam last November.

Paul, I agree with pretty much all the points you make in the article. Unfortunately for me I’m one of those nerds that get into enology, and barrel craft, and soils, and grape genetics, etc. I know…hopeless! 🤓🍷

As a consumer, not hopeless at all--just enthusiastic. But I'm willing to bet you've never bought a wine because of the oak regimen, or the soil type. And neither has anyone else. They are points of curiosity, but not points of decision...
