Yeah, winter starts La Nina and and could end with neutral. So far we've got a bit of snow in the forecast tomorrow, and this far out there's a wide range of outcomes in the forecast and we could get lucky. But smart money isn't on a big snow year, especially down in the southern end of the range.

Yep. That map shows slightly different areas from the one I cited...but the end result in the same, especiall south of Tahoe.

It is now becoming normal for me to do a lot of backpacking in June and July--even late May. I would never have done that 30 years ago--the last week of July was really the opening of the season for me. We all adapt, though I wish we didn't have to.
