thank you

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

thank you

Post by westmatt »

It occurred to me today how much I've gained from this community.

I signed on a few years ago looking for some intel for my High Sierra Trail trip, and since then, whether I've come to this particular board for inspiration, encouragement, ideas, or advice, I have not been disappointed.

The information that's shared is never done so in that self-aggrandizing manner that seems so common nowadays, but rather in the way you'd get it from your favorite aunt, or your granddad. My 'been there done that' trip reports have always been greeted with nothing but kind words and nice thoughts, even though it's old hat to many or most of you, and my often less than eloquent questions always elicit the information I need, somehow - you all seem to have that special kind of mindreading that gets the job done.

My life is better because of your willingness to share, so thank you - I don't take it for granted.

Very nice of you to say. I couldn't agree more. A great bunch of folks on here.

Agree. This site is so much better than *other* backpacking websites that degenerated into political slugfests.

This one stays on topic.
