The first thing I bought for my first born, was a baby-carrier backpack. My wife bought all the rest that she thought the baby needed. I was right !

Nice report. Hearing how you would set up camp and do the cooking while your son fished brought back memories of trips with my grandfather from the age of 7 to 15 just before he died. I didn't really think about it at the time, but he would set up camp with what little help I could provide, then we would go fishing. However, he always was back before me and making dinner, and I might even get in a little more fishing near camp while he took care of all that stuff that is a part of camping but not nearly as fun as fishing. Looking back I realize what he was doing and appreciate those trips all the more.
