Glass Mountain (11,140'), 4X

Trailtrekker and Mtflyer joined me for the weekend in Mammoth, to celebrate my 51st birthday. Since it was a longer drive than usual, we wanted a short easy hike. Glass Mountain was on TT's list, and the last time I did it was in a snow storm.
The road was blocked 2.5 miles from the TH. Mtflyer came to the rescue, and moved 3 trees with his truck and tow ropes. After the hike, we drove to Whoa Nellie Deli (one of my favorite places to eat) by Mono Lake, and even got a birthday song from everyone there! Fun birthday celebration!

Some of these are redundant, will fix soon. Such a neat looking place, it was hard to decide which pics looked best...

Crater Mountain and South Crater, Mono Craters
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/37 ... #212802749
It was really windy in Mammoth, so we decided to hike Mono Craters instead of the Sierra. The two high points are Crater Mountain (9,172') and South Crater (9,138'). It got a little windy, and when we summitted Crater Mountain, the sun came out.

Hey Snow Nymph...I was in was on the west shore of Mono lake on the 20th in that nasty wind, trying to get some decent sunrise photos. I then went and tromped around North Crater(I guess that is what you call it)...anyway, thanks for sharing your photos and trip report. here is the sunrise the morning you climbed the craters.
