No love for The Hermit? (Apologies for crappy photo--haven't been there since 2004.)

All kinds of love for The Hermit over here Tom. It's beautiful in the snow too.

Haven't posted anything in quite a while and this thread really speaks to me...

Others have mentioned it but for me one of the most impressive mountains I have ever seen by shear size and just unbelievable proportions is Mt. Williamson from Tyndall. It's huge when viewed from others angles too, especially from the South. Just look at this hulking beast.

It was so beastly looking it made us reconsider our plans to climb it the next day... we were feeling a bit lazy indeed.

Never put off a backpacking trip for tomorrow, if you can do it today...

And here's another amazing picture of Tehipite Dome:

It's unclear when it was taken. It's from a Sierra Club book published both late 1919 and summer 1920. So the picture must have been taken earlier. I looked up the photographer Herbert Wendell Gleason but I can't find the date he took it.

The game for photographers with scenic peaks is locating the exact tripod spot at the best time of year and time of day, when weather conditions are optimal. And that often requires work with topo maps, geological maps, Google Earth, weather reports, and a lot of rambling about on the hunt in awkward places no others ever venture.

Love to see Maverick and Dave camping together and watch where/when each chooses to photograph during the day. Been on two trips with Maverick and quickly decided I did not have the patience to be a real photographer. Fishing is much easier! and rewards much quicker.
