Above Yosemite
Three weeks ago I finally fulfilled a longtime dream of mine and took a 2-hour flight over Yosemite and the high Sierra. Below are a few of my photos; lots more here.
If anyone is interested in doing this, I went with Airborrn Aviation Services out of Mariposa. They run one-hour "scenic flights", which are limited by NPS regulations (you can get as far as Yosemite Valley, but that's about it), and "aerial photography" flights that can go just about anywhere; I did the latter. These flights are $210/hour with a 2-hour minimum; additional passengers are $199 each. The pilot was great--very professional, and totally flexible.
Anyway, on to the photos...
El Capitan
Bridalveil Falls
Half Dome
Upper Yosemite Falls
Triple Peak Fork Cascade
Washburn Lake
Snow cornice, Sierra crest near Isberg Peak
Banner Peak
South Fork San Joaquin
North Fork San Joaquin drainage

Re: Above Yosemite
So, I guess this was around mid-June. Very interesting.

This is very cool TT!
This could have a lot of money making potential.
Thanks.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Above Yosemite
The photos are very interesting, but I have to think that if I were backpacking down below in some of the remote places that you flew over, I would be annoyed to hear your small plane droning overhead. Especially if this became popular with planes flying every day. Which I am afraid it shall become.

I'm going to look at these whenever I need to take a break from the stress of real life. Those pictures of Yosemite you took from the plane are incredible. Thanks for sharing!
