A few of us got together to dayclimb Thor Peak. This was my 5th summit of Thor Peak, and BobR's 62nd!!! A great day for a hike! Bummer that the register is missing AGAIN!

Well, Snowy, I have to admit that, after FORCING myself to look at yet ANOTHER Thor Peak album, I really enjoyed it!!!! I don't know how you do it, but you seem to get a different take on your pics even when you've done the route before and posted an album on it! Maybe it's the different people in the pics. Anyway, nice job!

Thanks!
Greg, What's even more impressive is that BobR is 72 years old and still kicks butt on these climbs every week!
Trekker, I never used to do the same trip more than once a year, but with different routes, its really not the same trip. Since Bob joined us on this trip (wasn't sure if he was coming til that morning) he kept telling me to lead. I usually follow on his trips. And yes, the people make the trip fun!
Ridgeline, gotta get you on a trip soon. TT will share her wine with you!

I was unable to join this Thor trip due to a prior commitment - I took a group from Ridgecrest up the MR route of Whitney - I had agreed to bring a signal mirror and flash while on the summit. I sent signals from 12:15 to 12:30 with not response. you all must have been playing in the smile while we were playing on the summit. met lots of cool people on the trail that day.
the best had to be the two Spaniards heading up with no guide, no map, no experience, and no clue - they were just getting above East Face Lake about 2:30. how surprised to later found out you led them up the ledges. I often wonder if they made it down before dark
very fun to run into you at the Portal Store when we got down. my friends today told me I hike with some hotties. I just smiled in my usual Tomcat way.

Sunday I met Moondustie and Cinammon Girl to hike Thor - there was no problem with route finding for me - how hard can it be to follow 5 sets of footprints less than 24 hours old. I was tired at the start due to the long day previous but managed to catch a second wind halfway through the day. I saw lots of familiar faces on the trail and took every opportunity to stop and socialize. Sunday at the store we met Tina, Rick K. and Richard - they were up saying hi to Doug and having a pancake breakfast after dayhiking Middle Palasade the day before.

Finally, a bear sighting! I was beginning to think they were all on vacation at another mountain range (who would want to leave the Sierra?)
Does your partner now hold the record of the tallest climber to ever do the MR?
And they're right; you DO hike with some hotties!!!!! Nice pic of them getting dr.........rehydrating after their hard day!

Horseshoe Mdws (9,975) to Trail Peak (11,605') and Wonoga Peak (10,371') from Walts Landing
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/3206197#176830822
A quick hike up Trail Peak, then drove down the road for another quick hike up Wonoga Peak to add 2 new peaks to my summit list.
I'm off to the Sierra for 3 days!
