WEATHER FORECAST 07/20/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

LAST UPDATE: 8:31 AM PDT JUL 20, 2007

PRETTY MUCH THE SAME FORECAST TODAY AS YESTERDAY WITH MAYBE A DEGREE OR TWO IN TEMPERATURE INCREASE. A DRY SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL CONTINUE AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH REMAINS OFF THE COAST OF THE WESTERN U.S. THIS WILL GIVE US DRY CONDITIONS AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS IN THE AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 30.

SATURDAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY TURNING PARTLY CLOUDY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 85 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 44 - 56. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 -15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 25.

SATURDAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 87 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 42 - 52. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

A VERY GRADUAL WARM UP CONTINUES INTO SUNDAY THEN SLIGHT COOLING THRU THE END OF NEXT WEEK. RIGHT NOW, IT LOOKS LIKE A CHANCE OF ISOLATED T-STORM ACTIVITY FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY STARTING ON SUNDAY THEN INCREASING CHANCE THROUGH THE WEEK, AS HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE CENTRAL U.S. SLOWLY EXPANDS WESTWARD INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THIS COULD BRING AN INFLUX OF MONSOON MOISTURE TO THE SIERRA CREST.
