Forecast Discussion: As mentioned in my mid-day forecast update yesterday to radio station KSRW, “Offshore low pressure system heading our way is both weakening and slowing down.” Well, that process continued to evolve overnight and no measurable moisture was able to make it over the Crest from Mammoth south. That low is now expected to move slowly southeastward later today into Friday.
Today & Tomorrow: Mostly clear skies today for the Owens Valley becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. Chance of t-storms this afternoon with scattered showers possible into Friday morning. Lows will be in the mid 40s and highs in the upper 60s both Thursday and Friday. Winds will be out of the southeast 10-15 mph. For the High Country, mostly clear in the morning, becoming partly cloudy this afternoon with a chance of showers over the Crest into Friday morning. There will be a slight chance of a dusting at +9,000 feet on Friday morning. Cool temps to continue with lows in the mid 30s and highs in the mid 50s both days. Winds will be out of the southwest 15-20 mph.
Outlook: A slight chance of precipt. will linger on Saturday through Tuesday as a cut off low hangs over the west coast. There is a potential for unsettled weather over the High Country during the outlook period with temps increasing slightly each day.
