The elevation at Onion Valley is 9,200 feet, the pass is 11,7650.
I was up at Minaret Vista in Mammoth yesterday, and there was basically no snow there at 9,200 feet. You might find snow on the shaded sections of trail going up to Kearsarge and none at the trailhead of the South Fork trail. Snow shoes would be excessive just about eveywhere high right now. Just be wearing boots with gore-tex uppers, good soles, and dress warm.
