I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Considering what's going on right now, I am shocked this thread is so dead.

Re: 2015 Fire & Smoke Reports
Well, not Sierra specific, but the Rocky fire here in nearby Lake county is at 22,500 acres.
Rocky Fire
#RockyFire [update] east of Lower Lake (Lake County) is now 22,500 acres & 5% contained. http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/in ... nt_id=1161
My step-daughter and family live in Hidden Valley Lake about 7 km from the fire , so it's starting to get scary. depends on the wind now.
EDIT: grew to 60,000 acres..
EDIT again 8/4: now at 101 square miles. Jumped highway 20 and still heading North. 24 houses destroyed, 6900 under threat.

Yeah, it has been another bad year. The entire northern half of San Gorgonio Wilderness burned down here in socal. Forest like that is a unique thing down here so it was devastating for the locals.

Re: 2015 Fire & Smoke Reports
Just got back from 6 days in Humphreys Basin. Every day smoke blew in at noon (from the west), pretty thick at times, then cleared about 10PM. Clear in AM. Today was the first day that only a little bit of smoke was in the air in the afternoon.
We drove by the Walker Fire this afternoon. Smoke in Lee Vining and east. So far smoke not blowing into the mountains.
