From Labor Day morning in 20 Lakes Basin:

Although the basin was relatively dry with sunny areas with brown dry grasses and smaller streams dry, there were nice areas in north facing slopes with still green grasses, turning red arctic willow, and a few holdover wildflowers. Also late blooming species like alpine gentian, hiker's gentian, and alpine monkeyflower were at peak.
On the way home went north along US395 and over Sonora Pass. Most of the large aspen groves looked a healthy green.

Nice shots Dave! Wow, it's been quite a while. Do you have any plans to visit the Balch Park area in Oct?

Yo WW, now that you mention it, the idea of visiting your area of the woods late October is a nice notion? I've got quite a bit of PTO to burn else I'm going lose days so plan to take a few days in early October about Eastern Sierra aspen and after that will be up for some dogwood with sequoias. Really need to visit that area short notice when a certain type of weather is pushing clouds up against the top of that ridge for good diffuse light. Lets work on this.
