The Top 6 night backpack trips
I'm looking for the top 6 night backpack trips starting from the Eastern sierras ( or western.. if thats better) My friend and I are in good shape ( not great) and have 14 years of backpacking experience. We've done Humphereys basin, pioneer basin, yellowstone NP, glaciar NP ect.. Looking for 30 to 50 miles round trip, fishing and photo. Looking at 60 lake basin,mineral kings- big five lakes, dusy basin ect.. Thanks !!!

A little further north, you might try the Kerrick Canyon/Benson lake/Matterhorn Canyon loop out of Twin Lakes. Lots of great scenery, Matterhorn Canyon is fun fishing for brookies, and there is lots of room for off trail exploration as well...

Well I suppose you might have to wait for the full moon to do some good night hiking, and it would be best to stick to open granite areas....justm wrote:I'm looking for the top 6 night backpack trips
Just kidding. The loop out of Twin Lakes is a good suggestion. Another would be a hike out of Leavitt Meadows: lots of lakes and streams and not a lot of steep uphill, rare for an eastern Sierra start. You could hike into Yosemite and Immigrant in a loop for even more lakes and streams. And a trip through the Minarets is something not to be missed. There are other possibilities.
