I looked at Google Earth today, and see there is broken up ice floating in the far eastern
part of the lake where the trail comes in at.
From those of you who where visiting there the past weekend could you please
confirm for me the accuracy of this, thanks.

Re: Ediza Currently
when you're looking at Google Earth, you should know that those pics are rather historical in nature. They don't fly over everyday and take new shots. To see the actual date of the view, you might have to select View/Historical Imagery. The current shot for Ediza Lake was taken on June 5, 2009. The prior imagery was Dec 30, 2005. This is in-line with the approximate 3 year period between imagery data as stated by the Google Earth Community forum pages..

Thanks, I have been misinformed by someone, darn.
I had my suspicions about it after seeing Vee, Grinnell, and Beck Lakes Lakes
still being frozen.

Re: Ediza Currently
I've not encountered any ice on lakes over the past week -- all lakes in Humphrey's, Puppet & others on French Canyon area, Lake Italy, & Bear Lakes Basin. I suspect one can assume lakes below 12K ice free pretty safely.

I was at Ediza a week ago today. Saw no ice but it was beautiful.
